Toshiba LCD 37″ 37HL67 Won’t Turn on?

I currently have a Toshiba 37″ Regza LCD TV that will turn on, flicker twice(One of them shows that the screen works perfectly), then will go to a black screen. Does anyone know what is wrong with the TV? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Due to us not being able to find the reciept, Toshiba will not let us use our 1 year warranty. Thanks.
It is impossible to obtain the warranty. As far as the balancer board, does anyone know where this is located? Is it located right next to the screen? Thanks.

This could be a problem with the backlight or the power supply. Unless you are a qualified electronics tech there is not much you can do on your own.

I wouldn’t give up on the warranty. If you can go to the place of purchase they may be able to pull a record of the purchase. If you used a credit card you should be able to use the transaction record as a receipt. The serial number of the unit should indicate the date of manufacture and can prove the age of the set. No matter what, call their service dept. and ask for higher level supervisors until someone agrees to help you.
