which tv should i get?
heres the tvs i was going to choose to get.
1st is a samsung 40″lcd toc 120hz 1080p allt he tvs im looking at are all 120hz 1080p
2nd lg 42″ lcd
3rd toshiba 40″ lcd
4th sharp aucos ( how ever you spell it)46″ plasma 600hz all these tvs are in 1000-1100 doller range
LCDs
The Samsung is likely the best of the lot. I would expect that set to deliver better overall image quality than any of the other LCDs you have listed. Samsung is the world leader in LCD technology right now. I think maybe only some of the better line Sony’s compete with them for image quality (for a top tier set).
Plasmas
Overall will give you a better image.
Plasma doesn’t suffer any motion blur problems at all. The 120Hz on the LCD will help you but its not 100%. Plasma is near instantaneous in response time right out of the box.
None of the LCDs you listed were said to be LED LCD. So Plasma will beat all of the LCDs you list in colors (more vivid), blacks (Plasma has true blacks, CCFL LCDs have grey blacks), and contrast (Plasmas have deeper contrast, despite any numbers you might see on LCD boxes).
I would go with a Panasonic or Samsung Plasma. I think you can find one in the 42-50″ range around your budget. Actually right now, Best Buy has on sale the 50″ Panasonic TC-P50G10 for $1325 (or right around that). That is one of the single best sets you can own period. Just something to think about.
